The demo is live! After ~8 months since prototype The Watcher's Curse has a playable demo encapsulating the first major plot line in the game. Meet the folks still remaining at Grim's Briar, trek through the sewers, navigate the witch's forest, and tackle the two 'dungeons' it holds to progress the entire story.
Check patch notes below but largely everything has changed since the pre-alpha builds. Bug reports and feedback always welcome :)
- Combat
- Enemies have clear attack animations
- Enemies make grunts when you hurt them
- Item use has been removed from combat
- NOTE: While item use may come back, it didn't feel like it was hugely impactful. Early game you aren't very threatened by enemies and once you get the first set of spells at level 5 you have a rather strong defensive tool kit to survive.
- Weakness is implemented.
- NOTE: Weakness will be more robustly implemented late on, but I didn't want to throw something convoluted into the demo experience. Iteration is still required to get that feature to where I want it, but for now basic hit harder.
